Introduction: The Importance of Tires in Cycling
Tires are essential for any bike, acting as the main contact with the terrain. Different cycling disciplines have been defined by their intended terrain—Track, Road, Gravel, Mountain. Recently, tire sizes have expanded within these disciplines, giving riders more options to tailor their bikes for specific terrains and preferences, which ultimately enhances their experience. -
Scarab’s Philosophy on Product Lineup
At Scarab Cycles, our bikes are designed to span major cycling disciplines. We see the overlaps between models as a benefit, allowing one bike to be suitable for multiple uses. For instance, the Andes and Apüna models can perform across similar terrains but provide unique riding experiences due to their distinct features. -
Tires as a Guide in Choosing Models
We believe in offering a range of tire options and have created a guide to help riders select the right bike for their terrain and riding style. -
Bike Selection Process: Versatility and Terrain
Our process starts by identifying the primary terrain and tire size for the rider's main use, then expands to other intended uses. This Ideal Range approach helps riders select a model that can handle varied scenarios while excelling in its primary function. -
Meaningful Conversations with Riders
We ask specific questions to understand each rider's goals, including their current bikes and limitations. This insight allows us to recommend a bike with the right tire range and features for each rider's unique needs, blending modern tire flexibility with the individuality of each frame.
