The roughness of the ever-changing Andean mountain chain and tropical conditions shape Colombia. (We) Colombians found a way to live among the challenges our landscape’s steep mountains and remoteness can bring, building some of the most charming houses in these remote places—a statement of the willingness to pursue living among nature beautifully.
These houses are a true reflection of the people that inhabit them. Their facades tell stories, witnesses of past and present, resting silently on the same mountains that provided the resources they were made of, decorated with flowers and gardens that show the connection with nature.
When riding in the Andes silently, these colorful dots start to show up, pedal stroke by pedal stroke. The closer you get, the more recomforting they become. It gives hope like a distant oasis. You know you are not alone in this journey; someone lives there, and somehow, you feel at home. In Colombia, we refer to these houses as Casas Campesinas. "Campesina" is our homage to the fantastic people that live in these beautiful homes. They are friendly, welcoming, and a fundamental part of the culture of our country.
